The unintended expatriate blogger behind Relocate & Thrive

Hi, I am Amelia
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in London, United Kingdom.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to United Kingdom wasn't in our long-range plan. As with many expatriate relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The early months were demanding—new processes, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complicated than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of learning on the job. Gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began to create something that felt steady.
Why I Built Relocate & Thrive
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to close that gap by offering practical guidance grounded in real life in United Kingdom.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is about:
- Hands-on experience from living in United Kingdom
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site is not:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Moving Forward
Our stay in United Kingdom continues, and the learning process goes on. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep noting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in London or anywhere in United Kingdom, please feel free to reach out.
Best wishes,
Amelia
